Professor becomes student; Mohammad Hafeez takes admission in Karachi University physical education department

Former captain of the Pakistan men’s national cricket team Mohammad Hafeez, who is called a professor of cricket has now decided to become a student. According to media reports, Mohammad Hafeez has taken admission in the Physical Education & Sports Sciences Department of Karachi University (KU). The former all-rounder met the President of the Department of Health, Physical Education & Sports Sciences and informed him about embarking on the journey of a student.

Mohammad Hafeez said that he could not complete the educational journey as he was indulged in professional cricket. However, the professor believed that now he had a great opportunity and would make full use of it.

Karachi University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi while welcoming Mohammad Hafeez to Karachi University said that our young generation should also participate in sports, which is necessary for mental and physical development. The Vice-Chancellor hoped that students of Karachi University would make full use of Hafeez’s experience in sports.

Mohammad Hafeez will also make a debut in commentary through the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League. Hafeez will be seen in the commentary box during the opening match between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans. The striking batter used to play for Peshawar Zalmi and later migrated to Lahore Qalandars. Hafeez led Lahore Qalandars to their maiden PSL title. During PSL 7 he scored 323 runs and claimed six wickets.

Hafeez has enjoyed a prolific career as a professional cricketer. He scored 3652 runs in 55 Test matches at an average of 37.6 and scored 6614 runs in 218 ODIs with an average of 32.9. The former captain of the T20 team made 2514 runs in 119 T20 internationals. In terms of bowling, Hafeez was known as a nightmare for left-handers. He has 53 Test wickets to his name, while in ODIs, he has dismissed 139 batters. In T20 Internationals, Hafeez has taken 61 wickets.
