The federal government has accelerated its efforts for a comfortable return of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan. His younger brother and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has formed a legal team for the mission of the Pakistan Muslim League-N leader’s return.

The hopes of Nawaz Sharif’s arrival back to Pakistan increased when the National Assembly on Sunday amended the law to limit the disqualification of a member of parliament to a maximum of five years. The move paved the way for individuals facing lifetime bans to run a public office.

Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party Jahangir Khan Tareen will be the key beneficiaries of this initiative. Note that the Supreme Court disqualified the two senior politicians under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution in June & December 2017, respectively.

Formation of Legal Team for Nawaz Sharif’s Return to Pakistan

According to the sources, Law Minister Senator Azam Nazir Tarar will head the formation of a legal team working for the return of the PML-N leader. Special Assistant Attaullah Tarar, Irfan Qadir and a legal adviser will join the committee. Amjad Pervez and other lawyers handling the cases of Nawaz Sharif are also part of the committee.

The main goal of the legal team is to speed up the follow-up of Mian Nawaz Sharif’s ongoing cases in the courts, excel in the efforts to end his disqualification and other cases and play an active role in removing legal obstacles to his return.

On the other hand, Co-Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party and former President Asif Ali Zardari will also meet Nawaz Sharif in Dubai. During the meeting, they will discuss the date of the general elections, formation of the caretaker government, and crucial political issues in the country.
