ISLAMABAD: On Monday, President Arif Alvi approved the name of Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) for the position of governor of Punjab. The summary was approved under Article 101 (1), on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Earlier, Alvi had rejected the summary twice and urged the prime minister to appoint Omar Sarfraz Cheema as governor of Punjab. On May 9, Omar was de-seated as governor.
From 2017 to 2018, Baligh Ur Rehman remained the Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training. He also served as Minister of Education along with Interior and Narcotics control from 2013 to 2017.
