LAHORE: Population Welfare Minister for Punjab Muhammad Hashim Dogar has termed the ever-growing population as the greatest challenge for the country. He emphasised on the need for a coherent policy to tackle the situation.

The population minister expressed his views during the session of the Punjab assembly. He explained that in the next 25 years, the country’s population could swell to 500 million. Currently, Pakistan has 12th position in the world population ranking.

He said that 1,400 Ulemas were providing their assistance to the government to form reforms against the issue. Dogar added that awareness sessions are arranged for the citizens, and proposed a general discussion on the Assembly’s floor where lawmakers of both halves can present their ideas.
