PML-Q to announce its decision on no-confidence motion soon

ISLAMABAD: With the political temperature heating up amid the no-confidence motion filed against the prime minister by the opposition, a key ally of the government – Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q), has finally decided whether it’s going to side with the prime minister or not. The decision will be announced publicly after meeting the other party members of the ruling coalition.

The remarks were made by the Punjab Speaker Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi while speaking to reporters. According to him, the PML-Q leadership had made up its mind on the no-confidence motion and was going to meet two other key allies of the government – Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) before making the decision public.

Elahi’s comments give off the impression that the ruling coalition parties will make a unanimous decision on the no-confidence motion. Hinting at throwing their weight behind the government, Elahi said that it was agreed in principle that the present government would complete its tenure, scheduled to end in August 2023.
