PML-Q to continue its support for PTI; decides not to join opposition’s movements

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) has decided not to support the opposition and keep its alliance intact with the incumbent government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had a meeting with the PML-Q leadership, after which the PML-Q conveyed its decision to the PPP.

Co-chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari had visited the Chaudhrys’ residency and asked about the wellbeing of President PML-Q Chaudhry Shujat Hussain. Speaker Punjab Assembly and President PML-Q Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi were also present in the meeting along with Rukhsana Bangash, Shafay Hussain, MNA Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Tariq Bashir Cheema, and Moonis Elahi.

According to sources, the co-chairman of PPP discussed the current political situation and the mass movement the party wanted to launch against the incumbent government. However, the PML-Q leadership showed no interest in the initiative to send packing the government and raised questions about the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stance regarding the no-confidence motion.

Recently, a prominent PML-N representative and businessman in Gujrat, Amjad Farooq has joined the PML-Q. The Chaudhrys-led party had vowed to support the PTI government on all fronts.
