On Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Jacobabad and different parts of Balochistan to review the flood relief activities. The prime minister is also scheduled to visit Khuzdar and Sohbatpur. During his arrival in Balochistan, Mr Sharif will also meet Nawab Akhtar Jan Mengal, Chief of Balochistan National Party -Mengal, and extend his condolences on the death of Nawab’s uncle.
The floods in Pakistan have affected over 33 million people and stagnant water has caused several diseases like gastroenteritis, malaria and dengue. However, the United Nations report is encouraging which stated that water has started to recede in different areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
The report added that around 300sq km of water has receded in Balochistan, 4,000sq km in Sindh and 900sq km in Punjab.
