PM Shehbaz Sharif directs authorities to remain on high alert amid rains

ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued the directives amid heavy rainfall all across Pakistan.

Mr Sharif directed the authorities concerned to stay alert as flash floods could hit different parts of the country. He also urged the National Disaster Management to be vigilant and provide assistance to affected areas.

Mr Sharif assured Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah of complete help from the federal government. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, Karachi would receive over 200 millimetres of rain.

Authorities have requested the citizens to only leave their homes if necessary. The Met Department further added that the monsoon system in Karachi would continue till Tuesday.
