PM Imran Khan keen to launch projects worth Rs581 billion before no-confidence voting

ISLAMABAD: Just days before the no-confidence voting, Prime Minister Imran Khan has accelerated the efforts to launch development projects in South Punjab worth Rs581 billion. The projects were planned several weeks ago. However, their launch kept delayed for one reason or the other.

The development package includes around 122 projects regarding power supply, infrastructure and educational institutes. In terms of breakage, 44 projects will cost Rs182 billion, while 21 projects approved by the federal public sector will cost Rs52 billion.

In addition to that, 13 projects worth Rs134 billion are also part of the plan. About Rs51 billion will be financed from the Ignite & Universal Services Fund for 39 projects. The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) will head five projects worth Rs162 billion.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar has received the request from Planning & Development Minister Asad Umar to complete all pending commitments with stakeholders. Mr Khan wants the projects to be launched before the no-trust motion at all costs.
