PM Imran dismisses opposition’s claims of rifts in civil-military relations

Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan was once again forced to assure his party members in a meeting on Monday that the civil-military relations were ‘exceptional’. His comments came in the wake of the opposition’s claims that the relations between the top brass of the civilian government and the military forces had gone sour.

The prime minister dismissed the claims, stating the narrative being propagated by the opposition was ‘dead and buried’. He had also said the same thing while speaking to a private channel last week. The prime minister had said that he was not under any pressure and was confident that his government would complete its five-year term.

The possibility of a deal between the establishment and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has also been dismissed by the Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations Pakistan (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar, HI (M), who will addressing a press conference last week, called the rumours ‘baseless’.
