PM Imran appoints new officeholders for PTI organisational bodies

PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced the new organisational setup of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Saturday. The decision came after the prime minister dissolved the previous setup after a setback in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry gave the news through his Twitter handle. He said that the prime minister had appointed new presidents and secretary-general at provincial level. Asad Umar has been assigned the duties of the secretary-general followed by Amir Mehmood Kiyani as additional secretary-general.

Qasim Suri has been appointed to lead the party in Balochistan, Pervaiz Khattak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khusro Bakhtiar and Shafqat Mehmood in Punjab, and Ali Zaidi will be the president for Sindh chapter.

Mr Khan dismantled the structure as he was unsatisfied with the PTI’s performance in the KP elections. All the office-bearers and chief organisers were removed from their posts.

Earlier, Fawad Chaudhry had said that PM Imran Khan did not allow dynasty politics in the PTI. He said that was what differentiated the PTI from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
