Partly cloudy skies, strong winds, and possible drizzle forecast in Karachi

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies and strong winds for Karachi over the next 24 hours, bringing a potential respite from the recent heat. The PMD has also indicated that the port city may experience light rain or drizzle by evening or night.

According to the Met Office, Karachi’s maximum temperature today (Thursday) is expected to range between 34°C and 36°C, with humidity levels peaking at 79 per cent. The minimum temperature recorded in the last 24 hours was 30.5°C.

After weeks of sweltering heat, the return of sea breezes has provided some relief to Karachi residents. The gentle winds have been a welcome change as the city eagerly awaits the onset of the monsoon rains, which are anticipated to bring much-needed relief from the heat spell.

Earlier this week, heavy showers resulted in a slight dip in temperatures, though significant relief from the heat remains elusive. Despite this, the PMD’s forecast for heavy rains in Karachi after July 20 has bolstered hopes among residents for a more substantial break from the oppressive weather conditions.
