Pakistan secures top rank in The Economist’s world normalcy index

ISLAMABAD: The condition of Covid in the country is getting better as Pakistan has topped The Economist’s world normalcy index. The index has compiled the list of countries that have eased Covid restrictions.

The announcement was made by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib in a tweet. He applauded the efforts of Prime Minister Imran Khan as to how he dealt with the pandemic situation and how the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) took timely actions to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The Economist’s normalcy index examines different points of human behaviour regarding their response to pandemic protocol during a 24-hour window. The index studied 50 countries, which comprise 75 per cent of the world population. Pakistan gained 79 points on the normalcy index due to the ease in restrictions. This is the first time that Pakistan has topped the index since March 2020.
