Pakistan reports 17 deaths from Covid

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) announced on Tuesday the statistics for January 24. According to the latest numbers, the country has reported 17 deaths during the past 24 hours.

While the number of confirmed positive cases has gone down, the test positivity ratio still remains on the higher side. According to the Ministry of National Health Services, Pakistan, the test positivity ratio was recorded at 40.68 per cent in Karachi, 23.89pc in Peshawar, 22.30pc in Islamabad, 21.53pc in Hyderabad, 15.83pc in Lahore, 12.50pc in Rawalpindi and 10.89pc in Mirpur.

The highest number of critical patients were reported from Lahore with 51. The Ministry urged everyone to wear masks since “the Omicron variant is spreading at an unprecedented rate.”

Pakistan recorded a total number of 6,357 positive cases in the past 24 hours.
