Pakistan records highest daily death toll since October last year

ISLAMABAD: While the number of confirmed positive cases may have come down slightly, there are numerous worrying signs for the medical authorities in Pakistan. According to the latest numbers for the last 24 hours shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 42 more people lost their lives to Covid in the country.

Pakistan had reported 6,047 Covid cases earlier with the number now down to 5,830. The test positivity ratio flirts with the 10 percent mark. It currently stands at 9.8pc in the country. However, it continues to remain over 11pc in 14 cities.

Meanwhile, according to the NCOC, this is the first time since October 6 that the country has recorded its highest daily death toll.
