Pakistan launches 'Beep app'

To ensure cyber security, Pakistan has launched the Beep app – an alternative to social media applications for government employees. Initially, the app will be used by the Ministry of Information Technology and the National IT Board for one month on an experimental basis. In the second phase, the employees of the federal ministries will carry out office affairs on this application. IT Minister Aminul Haque announced that the nationwide use of the app will be started in the third phase.

According to the details, Beep App will be an alternative to all social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and email services in Pakistan.

While addressing the ceremony in Islamabad, Federal Minister IT Aminul Haque said that the Ministry and NITB will test this application for the first 30 days. In the next phase, 41 federal ministries and departments will be allowed to use the Beep app.

Aminul Haque claimed that the app is 100 per cent secure which will help prevent audio and video leaks. The server of the app is located in Pakistan which will be monitored by NTC.

National IT Board said that only government employees can use the ‘Beep’ Pakistan application by downloading it from a secure link. In the third phase, the app will be available on the Google Play Store.
