First Test between Pakistan and England could be postponed; 14 English players affected by virus

RAWALPINDI: Just before the historic Test series between Pakistan and England could commence here, the English squad has been hit by a what appears to be a viral disease. Around 14 members of the squad, including eight players, have fallen ill due to the virus.

According to media reports, only five players took part in the practice session on Wednesday. The English Cricket Board has not released the official number of affected players. Key player of the England squad, Joe Root, briefed the media that some players were not 100 per cent healthy.

He added that PCB and ECB were discussing the possibility of the postponement of the first Test in Rawalpindi.

England had already announced the team for the first Test which included Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Ben Foakes (wk), Liam Livingstone, Jack Leach, Ollie Robinson, Jimmy Anderson.
