Pakistan reports 6,540 Covid cases in last 24 hours

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) took to Twitter in early hours of Saturday to announce the Covid numbers for the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the watchdog, of the total 58,902 tests, 6,540 came out positive.

The positivity ratio has been recorded at 11.10 per cent in the country. As per the NCOC, 1,055 people remain in critical condition. Twelve deaths were also reported across the country during the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Covid fifth wave driven by the Omicron variant is wreaking havoc in Karachi with the test positivity ratio standing at 45.14pc. According to some reports, a few private hospitals have reportedly put a pause on taking in new Covid patients since their Covid wards are already full.
