Nervousness running amok in Aussie camp as Pakistan tour approaches

According to a report published in the Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday, the Aussie players are nervous about the prospects of touring Pakistan amid growing terror related incidents in the South Asian country.

According to the media reports, a well-placed source in the Australian camp said that the Aussie players “are all toey about it”. Australia remain the only top international side to not have toured Pakistan in over two decades.

They last played a series in Pakistan in 1998/99. Australia are scheduled to play three Tests as many One-Day Internationals, and one T20I match. The series is scheduled to start from March 3.

Australian selector George Bailey, however remains hopeful that the tour would go ahead as scheduled and that the full Aussie squad will tour the country.

“I believe the boards are still working through some of the minor details around that tour, so once that gets the formal tick of approval then we’ll announce the squad post that, but we’re reasonably well down the track,” said Bailey.
