The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reduced the per unit electricity charges by Rs7.43 as a monthly fuel adjustment for electricity consumers. A hearing was held on the request of K Electric to reduce the price of electricity as a monthly fuel adjustment in November.
The hearing was initiated under the chairmanship of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Chairman Taseef H. Farooqui. Members of NEPRA from Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan were also present during the hearing.
During the hearing, Chairman NEPRA remarked that the general consumers would suffer if the federal government did not provide electricity to K-Electric. NEPRA approved the reduction of electricity charges by Rs7.43 per unit at the request of K Electric. The cut will not apply to lifeline customers. With this decision, customers of Karachi will get a relief of over 10 billion.
