According to media reports, Ramiz Raja’s tenure as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman is set to end soon following the nomination of Najam Sethi and Shakeel Sheikh for top positions by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Speculations are rife that the PCB’s constitution of 2019 will be revoked with its 2014 Constitution set to be reinstated. According to the current constitution, the patron-in-chief (prime minister) cannot remove the PCB chairman directly and thus Raja is likely to face a vote-of-no-confidence at the next Board of Governor’s meeting.
It is also being reported that an interim selection committee is likely to select the team for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand. With Raja, team management and the selection committee set to go, there has, however, been no report on whether Babar Azam would continue as the team’s all-format captain.
