National Assembly session including No-confidence motion adjourned till Monday

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly session in which the no-confidence motion was to be tabled has been adjourned by Speaker Asad Qaiser till Monday following the passing away of the MNA Khayal Zaman.

After offering condolences and Fatiha for the departed soul, the session was halted till Monday, 4:00pm.

According to the Speaker, the parliament has the tradition of adjourning sessions when a house member dies. He recalled the past instances when NA sessions were adjourned 24 times for similar reasons. Qaiser said the no-confidence motion would proceed according to the Constitution.

The NA session was supposed to be called within 14 days after the requisition was submitted on March 8 by the Pakistan Democratic Movement and Pakistan Peoples Party but was postponed due to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation conference.

All lawmakers were forbidden to bring personal staff and security team during the session. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s member cabinet Faisal Javed tweeted that PM Imran Khan had already won, and the nation stood with him.

Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Asif Ali Zardari said that he was 100 per cent sure about the success of the no-confidence motion.
