Monsoon system wreaks havoc in Karachi; Met office predicts flooding in low-lying areas

KARACHI: On Sunday, heavy rainfall wreaked havocs in the City of Lights as four people died in rain-related incidents. The second round of monsoon injured several people, damaged properties, disrupted telecommunication systems and discontinued power supply in different areas.

According to details, a teenager died due to electric shock in Liaquatabad. The family of the deceased said that a service mast became the reason for shock. In a similar incident, a man passed away in Surjani Town. The police said that he was electrocuted from snapped electric wires.

Both dead bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Another citizen lost his life near Memon Masjid, identified as Shan Hussain. His body was taken to Jinnah Hospital. Multiple accidents due to rain were also reported in areas like Korangi, Saeedabad, and Baldia Town.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department said the current rain system would prevail for the next three days. It added that low-lying areas might suffer waterlogging and flooding.
