ISLAMABAD: Leader of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), MNA Ali Wazir has been granted bail in the hate speech case by the Supreme Court here on Tuesday. Justice Sardar Tariq Masood headed the bench that heard the case, after which bail against surety bonds of Rs400,000 was granted to Wazir.
Wazir is accused of having made inflammatory remarks in a December 6 rally in Karachi last year, following which a first information report (FIR) was filed against him at the Sohrab Goth Police Station. He was arrested 10 days later on December 16, 2020.0
During the proceedings, Justice Masood pointed that the anti-terror charges were not on merit and since the co-accused had been given bail, there was no reason to keep the PTM leader in custody.
