Pakistan’s Finance Minister Miftah Ismail did not hold back from launching an all-out verbal attack at the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leadership for allegedly trying to sabotage the IMF deal.
An audio clip had been leaked online earlier in which Senator PTI Shaukat Tarin had asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Finance Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra to write a letter to the IMF stating that the KP government would not be able to achieve the previously committed budget surplus.
Miftah asked Jhagra to resign with immediate effect and Tarin to quit the politics following the ‘expose’. He said that the PTI government, under Imran Khan’s leadership, had taken the country to the brink of a default. He asked whether Khan’s interest was bigger than those of the country.
