Met Office expects lower than usual rain during April-June

ISLAMABAD: According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, Pakistan will receive lower than normal rainfall from April-June 2022, which has increased the risk of decreasing water levels in water reserves in most parts of the country. Earlier, in the winter season, the snowfall also remained below average.

The below-average rainfall would be observed in Balochistan, Punjab, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. However, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the upper areas of Sindh will receive the usual rainfall. The decrease in rainfall could result in rising temperatures, dry weather and a quick pollination process.

The dry and hot weather will create favourable conditions for harvesting. However, the sugarcane and wheat crops would be affected due to the rising water demand.
