Met Dept forecasts rain and snowfall in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) has forecasted the arrival of a westerly wave in the upper parts of Pakistan on Monday night, which would keep its effect for four days.

According to the details issued by PMD in its press release, there are chances of thunderstorms and snow in Layyah, Bhakkar, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Waziristan, Musa Khel, Zhob, Pishin, Qila Saifullah, Ziarat, and Quetta.

Isolated hailstorms might be witnessed between Monday to Friday in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Buner, Shangla, Kohistan, Malakand, Swat, Dir, and Chitral.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, rainfall is expected in Lahore, Narowal, Sialkot, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Khushab, Jhang, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Chakwal, Jhelum, Attock, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Kohat, Khyber, Kurram, Bajaur, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, and Swabi.

Weak structures, crops and fields could face damages due to dust and windstorm in Sindh and South Punjab. All departments concerned have been asked to stay on high alert during the week.
