Met Department forecasts intense cold weather in Karachi

Meteorological Department has predicted a new wave of cold weather in Karachi. Chief Metrologist Karachi Sardar Sarfraz warned that from January 12, the temperature would drop to single digits due to the winds blowing from the western side. It’s expected that by January 12, the temperature of Karachi will reach 6 to 7 degrees. The new system will continue from January 12 to 17.

As the new wave of cold weather is about to enter from January 11, the Met Office has issued an alert for 13 districts. Met department also predicted rain and snow in Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Ziarat, Nokundi, Dalbandin, Harnai, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, and Muslim Bagh. Light rain is expected in the coastal areas of Makran.

Meanwhile, snowfall in Swat and Satur has disturbed the everyday life system. The Neelum Highway from Sharda to Tau Butt has been closed. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued rain and snowfall alerts from Wednesday to Friday.

Visibility became zero due to heavy fog in several areas of Punjab. The PDMA has appealed not to travel to hilly areas and has directed the district administration to ensure the availability of heavy machinery at several locations.
