Manchhar Lake continues to overflow despite multiple relief cuts

The Manchhar lake continues to cause havoc as the overflowing water has collapsed a bridge near the premises of Sehwan. Both sides of the Indus highway road, which connects Dadu and Larkana, are disconnected. The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) said that route towards Dadu has been blocked. Earlier, multiple cuts were made to decrease the pressure, but they did not prove effective.

The authorities reported that Sehwan Airport and Bajara village, the native area of Chief Minister Sindh, are also submerged. The District administration said that Manchar Lake has been overflowing from RD-54 and RD-52 embankments. As a result, the Union Council of Jafarabad and Bobal are submerged, which has affected over 150 residents.

Already three relief cuts have been made in Manchar Lake but the water pressure did not reduce. Around 100,000 people are displaced, and the area suffers from diseases like dengue, fever, breathing issues and snake bites.
