LHC orders closure of restaurants, markets by 10pm to combat smog in Lahore

Lahore High Court ordered on Wednesday the closure of all commercial activities including but not limited to restaurants and markets by 10pm on weekdays in an effort to mitigate the threat posed by smog.

Lahore has, in the recent years, struggled with maintaining a healthy air quality index. It has reached alarming levels, putting at risk the lives of millions of people in the city.

The restaurants and markets, however, will be allowed to operate till 11pm on Sundays.
