Karachi is expected to experience cloudy weather with drizzle and light rain persisting for the next 24 hours, according to Sardar Sarfaraz, Chief Meteorologist at the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Sarfaraz reported that the low-pressure system responsible for the recent rain has now moved away from Sindh. “The weather in Karachi will remain cloudy with chances of drizzle and light rain,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Sarfaraz warned of another potential monsoon system that could affect lower Sindh, including Karachi, starting from August 26 or 27. He also forecasted rain for upper Sindh on August 21.
In Karachi, the PMD has predicted a minimum temperature of 28°C today, with the maximum likely to reach between 30°C and 32°C. The humidity level stands at 81 per cent, with winds blowing from the southwest at a speed of 17 kilometres per hour.
Addressing recent claims of a record-breaking 300 millimeters of rainfall in Sukkur, Sarfaraz dismissed them as inaccurate. “These reports are incorrect,” he said, clarifying that Sukkur received 116mm of rain over 48 hours, while nearby Rohri recorded 134mm.
