The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert for Karachi as a powerful monsoon system is set to bring strong winds and thundershowers on Monday and Tuesday. The port city is expected to experience rain starting Monday night, with heavy downpours likely on Tuesday.
According to the PMD, intermittent rain and thunderstorms are anticipated across various rural districts of Sindh until July 30. Karachi’s temperatures are forecasted to range between 31 to 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels around 69 per cent.
The Early Warning Centre of the PMD has predicted a series of strong monsoon winds entering Sindh on the night of July 28, bringing thunderstorms and heavy rains to the Karachi division on July 29 and 30. This weather pattern is driven by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which has already affected Gujarat and Rajasthan, causing moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in Karachi.
In addition to Karachi, PMD has issued alerts for other parts of Sindh, forecasting significant rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days. The affected rural districts include Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Thatta, Jamshoro, and Dadu.
