Karachi police to restore model police stations in metropolis

KARACHI: The Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Ghulam Nabi ordered the restoration of model police stations in the metropolis here on Monday. The decision has been taken to control the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.

During the first phase, model police stations will be settled in Clifton, Boat Basin, Ferozabad, Bahadurabad, and Liaquatabad. Earlier in 2019, the model police station concept was applied in Karachi by Police Chief Ghulam Nabi but was lifted during the tenure of AIG Imran Yaqoob.

A model police station operates on a beat system in which every beat has designated motorcycle squads. The concept follows an eight-hour shift system and is assigned adequate funds for operations.

Meanwhile, the Karachi police have also arrested a man who allegedly smuggled motorcycles from Karachi to Balochistan. The suspect has been identified as Hafeez and was arrested from Karachi, Madina Colony.
