Negligence, incompetence make Karachi part of unwanted list of least livable cities

According to a report published by The Economist Intelligence Unit, Pakistan’s financial hub – Karachi – has been included in the unwanted list of least livable cities in the world.

Out of the total 172 countries, Karachi was placed at 168th position in terms of the living conditions it offers to its residents. The cities are judged on the five parameters: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure, on a scale of 1-100, with 100 being the ideal condition.

According to the latest index results, Karachi has only managed to accumulate 37.5 points on the index, making the city a less desirable place to live in.

One may wonder as to what happened to the once popular ‘City of Lights’. From infrastructure to the provision of basic necessities, everything has regressed in the city. The deteriorating law and order situation has further exacerbated the problems of the residents of Karachi.
