PESHAWAR/SWABI: The local government election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are tilting towards Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F). In 17 districts where the elections were held, seven candidates of JUI-F won on tehsil chairman seats.
The incumbent government (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) secured six seats. Other parties who managed to secure slots include Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami National Party (ANP), who won two seats each. In the remaining two slots, independent candidates emerged victorious.
From PTI, Ishaq Khattak, Kamran Razzak, Salaar Jahan, Sher Alam, Attaullah Khan, and Razi Khan won in Nowshera, Jehangira, Tehsil Buner Gagra, Tehsil Gadezai, Swabi, and Tehsil Daggar, respectively.
Ghulam Haqqani, while representing ANP, emerged victorious from Tehsil Razar. Amir Ghani and Peer Kamal Shah won the elections as independent candidates from Miryan and Hangu Tehsil.
Meanwhile, the elections conducted in Lahore’s Tehsil resulted in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) victory. Adil Khan from PML-N defeated Sohail Khan of PTI by a close margin.
The remaining results will be disclosed as soon as they are made public by the election authorities.
