Islamabad to kick off anti-measles and anti-rubella vaccination drive

Vaccination Drive

ISLAMABAD: The federal capital will begin the anti-measles and anti-rubella vaccination drive from November 15 in 800 designated areas, immunising around 0.7 million children against the disease.

Children aged between nine months to 15 years will be eligible for vaccination. The target is to vaccinate 90 million children across the country by November 27.

Islamabad Health Director-General (DG), Dr Hasan Urooj, said a door-to-door campaign was planned to educate and urge parents to visit the vaccination centre.

Media houses, private and public schools, and religious leaders will participate in the drive.

Earlier on Sept 17, the Sindh Health Department had also announced a vaccination campaign against measles and rubella across the province. The drive aims to reduce the number of cases and related complications due to the diseases in the winter season.
