Iranian FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian visits Pakistan for crucial meeting

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian visits Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister (FM) of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian reached Pakistan on Sunday night as foreign ministers of Iran and Pakistan look to hold crucial talks and repair damaged ties due to the exchange of missile strikes and the unfortunate killing of 9 Pakistani labourers in Sistan-Blauchistan province of Iran on Saturday.

Tehran had condemned the killing of Pakistani workers – who belonged to South Punjab. Iranian FM assured Pakistan that Iran would not allow enemies to tarnish the friendly ties, peace and security in the region. Pakistan has urged Iran to initiate the investigation of the Saravan incident and bring the culprits to justice.

Analysts believe that the gruesome murder of poor workers was carried out by Baloch terrorist outfits – targeted in the Pakistani missile strikes. The visit by Iranian FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian would play a crucial role as Iran and Pakistan would exchange thoughts for “new terms of engagement”. The meeting between the two FMs would take place at the Foreign Office of Pakistan. A joint press conference would be held to send a message of reconciliation.

Families of victims seek dead bodies of deceased

Families of five Pakistani labourers killed in Iran protested to push the government for repatriation of the deceased’s remains. The protest took place in Muzaffargarh district – Alipur tehsil, outside the office of assistant commissioner.

The protestants include family members of labourers, identified as Muhammad Azhar & his younger brother Muhammad Asghar, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Shoaib, and Shabbir.

A total of 09 Pakistan workers lost their lives in the Sirkan area of Saravan city in Sistan-Baluchestan province near the Pakistani border when armed men attacked their house.
