Indian Twitter goes in frenzy; announces to boycott Hyundai India and Kia India

Indian Twitter was set on fire, rather inadvertently, by Hyundai Pakistan and Kia Motors Crossroads Hyderabad as the two popular automobile manufacturers posted messages for Kashmiris on ‘Kashmir Day’ – celebrated by Pakistan every year on February 5.

The social media posts caught the eyes of the Indian users who resorted to asking everyone to join them in the ban of Hyundai India and Kia Motors India. Hyundai Pakistan had posted: “Let us remember the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters and stand in support as they continue to struggle for freedom.”

Meanwhile, KIA Motors Crossroads Hyderabad had tweeted: “We stand United for the freedom of Kashmir.”

The social media posts did not sit well with Indian Twitterati with many of them claiming that they had cancelled their bookings. #BoycottHyundai and #BoycottKiaMotors is trending on Twitter India currently.

Kashmir has long been a bone of contention between Pakistan and India with the latter having revoked the special status enjoyed by Kashmir in August 2019. The move was widely criticised by world leaders with Pakistan urging the world superpowers to take notice of atrocities in the Indian-occupied Kashmir.
