Imran Khan gets pre-arrest bail for three days

ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has been granted three days of pre-arrest bail till August 25, 2022 in a case of terrorism from the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Earlier, Khan had stated in a petition that he did not have a criminal record and would be part of any investigation.

Khan has reached IHC for pre-arrest bail in the case of publicly threatening Additional Session Judge Zeba Chaudhry.

On August 20, 2022, Imran had used derogatory remarks for Chaudhry in his Islamabad rally. The PTI chief threatened to file cases against Chaudhry, Deputy Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, and IG Islamabad Police for torturing the imprisoned PTI leader Shehbaz Gill.

Meanwhile, prominent PTI leaders have asked supporters and workers to launch a protest to resist the possible arrest of Khan. Fawad Chaudhry tweeted that all workers should reach Bani Galla, while Shah Mehmood Qureshi asked the workers to be prepared for the protest.

Hammad Azhar and Farrukh Habib also urged the workers to gather in Lahore and Faisalabad to stop the ‘imported government’ from arresting Khan.
