Humanitarian crisis to surge dramatically in 2023

A report from the International Rescue Committee (IRC), an NGO based in New York, says that the humanitarian crisis across the world will surge in 2023. The report stated the economic decline, armed conflicts and climate changes are accelerating the humanitarian crisis.

It further said that the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance had skyrocketed to 339.2 million. IRC mentioned the recent disaster in Pakistan due to climate change.

The NGO pointed out that 2022 climate change is playing a huge role in pushing the humanitarian crisis across the world as it has brought food insecurity in Ethiopia & Somalia and killed thousands of people in Pakistan. By November 2022, the void in humanitarian assistance and financing had grown to $27 billion.
