Higher Education Commission (HEC) has released Graduate Education Policy 2023 which will be effective and applicable from Fall semester 2023.
Under the new Graduate Education Policy, students will be allowed to explore intra-disciplinary admissions & diverse academic fields within their chosen discipline. Regarding the evaluation process, external evaluations by foreign evaluators have been introduced.
Furthermore, the policy has relaxed CGPA requirements for admission and will now offer a more dynamic assessment of the period required for degree completion. The newly launched policy has also devised a plan to streamline the process for determining faculty relevance, approval to become a doctoral supervisor, and requirements for HEC’s No Objection Certificate.
There are also new guidelines for interpreting similarity reports, writing doctoral dissertations, and the degree-obtaining process. Similarly, there is an emphasis on doctoral research governance in the new policy which outlines the roles and responsibilities of the departments overseeing advanced studies & research, supervisors, and supervisees.
