Governor Punjab urges Army to end political crisis in province

LAHORE: Governor of Punjab Omar Sarfraz Cheema has urged the armed forces to intervene in the political matters of Punjab. He wrote a letter to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Jawed Bajwa, stating that the army could ease the prevailing political crisis in the province.

In the letter, Mr Cheema expressed his anxiety over the situation in Punjab and called the oath-taking ceremony of Hamza Shehbaz as an illegal act. He added that Hamza misused the power of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by forcefully occupying the Governor House for the oath ceremony. The PTI MNA said that despite being the governor he was barred from entering the premises.

Earlier, he tweeted that if COAS provided four soldiers and a Subedar he would arrest Hamza and imprison him.

Mr Cheema also called out all the political parties stating that their silence over the issue was disturbing.
