Google has announced to delete all inactive Google accounts. As per the new update, Google will remove the accounts that have been inactive for the past two years. The process to delete accounts will begin on December 1st 2023. However, all account holders will start receiving warning emails on their backup email addresses.
According to the details, the decision to delete inactive accounts is related to security threats. Research has indicated that non-active Google accounts do not get updated with security measures & new features which makes them more vulnerable to spam or hacking.
Accounts that have YouTube channels or are used to purchase digital items are exempted.
How to prevent Google from deleting your account
To protect your account from getting deleted, make sure to sign in to the Google account or Google services once a year. After signing in, the user should also perform some activities like searching or reading emails.
