Foreign Office reiterates terrorist attacks won’t impact CPEC

ISLAMABAD: In her weekly media briefing, the Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch argued that the recent suicide attack on the Chinese nationals won’t impact the Chinese-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). She said that the two countries remained friends and reiterated the countries’ commitment to strategic partnerships.

She said: “Pakistan and China are close friends and brothers and we will continue to work together to develop CPEC and to promote our cooperation.” The recent attacks on the Chinese nationals have sparked a debate surrounding the safety and security of the foreign workers in Pakistan.

The recent attack is an addition to the list of deadly attacks previously at the Gwadar Port Authority Complex and the Turbat naval base – both of which hold serious significance to the CPEC.
