KARACHI: On Thursday, a fire erupted in Shantinagar area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, in which four children and a woman lost their lives. The fire originated from a shanty and quickly affected the entire slum.

The four deceased kids were identified as Tayyaba (8-year-old), Saima (12-year-old), Farhan (11-year-old), Kamran (9-year-old). According to police, the cause of the incident is still uncertain. However, the fire-brigade team claims a short-circuit caused the fire destroying around five huts.
