National Assembly will end its tenure

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has forwarded the names of 19 members to President Asif Ali Zardari for their appointment in the federal cabinet. The most visible ministry shake-up is that of the former finance minister Ishaq Dar.

According to media reports, Dar is likely to be appointed as the foreign minister of the country. He will be replaced by either Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Habib Bank Limited chief, or the former prime minister’s adviser Ahad Khan Cheema.

Dawn reports that the prime minister’s letter mentions the nomination of 12 MNAs and three Senators as federal ministers. The veteran politicians come to the fore with Khawaja Asif, Ishaq Dar, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Musadik Malik, Aleem Khan, and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui being a few of them.

The PCB’s chief Mohsin Naqvi’s name has also been sent to President Zardari for his appointment as the interior minister. It is yet to see whether he would continue to hold the PCB post should he get a nod from President Zardari.
