Elon Musk pays hefty $44bn to buy Twitter

The owner of Tesla and Space X, Elon Musk, has bought the popular social media platform Twitter for $44 billion. The world’s richest person has expanded his horizon from technology to social media.

For a few weeks speculations were gaining strength that Elon would become a stakeholder in Twitter, and soon finalise an agreement. On Monday, the details regarding the deal were unrevealed, according to which, he has bought one of the most populated social media platforms. He became the owner by paying a hefty price of $54.2 per share.

Elon said that he wanted to promote free speech as it was important for democracy. He added that Twitter was a platform where serious issues vital to humanity were discussed. Twitter was founded as a public forum in 2013 by Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone, Evan Williams, and Noah Glass.
