Lahore, which has the reputation of having a top-class education system, has shown a poor performance in Punjab’s district school ranking of November 2023. In the released rankings, Lahore ranked 29th in competition with 36 districts of Punjab. These rankings evaluated the districts on arrangements & facilities provided in government schools.
Other districts of Punjab showed much better performance, despite the fact that most of the provincial budget gets utilised for projects in Lahore. Dera Ghazi Khan, Attock, and Nankana Sahib bagged top positions in the Punjab schools ranking.
The provincial capital dropped down to 29th position due to the underrated performance of teachers & students in the government schools. The ranking also examines the attendance of teachers and students. Other factors that are foreseen include washrooms, water supply, maintenance, and furniture of the school. Punjab Education Department has received the performance reports of 36 districts of Punjab.
Other districts that showed undermined performance in Punjab district school ranking were:
- Bakhar: 36th position
- Sahiwal: 35th position
- Faisalabad: 18th position
- Gujarat: 23rd position
- Toba Tek Singh: 26th position
- Chiniot: 27th position
