District and Sessions court rejects Shahbaz Gill’s petition for post-arrest bail

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad District and Sessions court has turned down the petition of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s leader Shahbaz Gill for post-arrest bail in the sedition case. Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal pronounced the decision and rejected the request for bail.

The PTI leader is under sedition charges and submitted a petition in session court on August 25 for bail.

During the hearing, which took place yesterday, the counsel of Shahbaz said that he was willing to submit an apology. The decision to reject the petition was criticised by PTI leader Shireen Mazari. She called the verdict a shameful act. She added that the torture on Shahbaz was an attempt to get to Imran Khan.

Shahbaz’s counsel said that he could not think to commit treason and his statement was altered. He added that Shahbaz was ready to offer an apology and address all misunderstandings.
