ISLAMABAD: The cracks in the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leadership are opening up as President Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi has distanced himself from the ‘uncalled for’ comments by party chief Imran Khan on the senior leadership of military.
While the other party workers and leaders are busy defending the statement, President Alvi has made it categorically clear that Khan should clarify the comments himself. It is pertinent to mention here that the Inter-Services Public Relations Pakistan (ISPR) also took notice of Khan’s comments and issued a strong statement yesterday.
Meanwhile, the PTI leadership says that Khan did not mean to bring the prestigious institution into disrepute. According to the PTI leaders, Khan only meant to say that the Pakistan Democratic Movement-led government wanted to bring an army chief of its own liking to escape cases of corruption.
